The Ondo State Government, under Governor Akeredolu, has joined the World Bank-assisted Rural Access Mobility Programme (RAMP), now the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), to improve rural road infrastructure in the Owo Local Government Area. This initiative aims to enhance the productivity and living standards of rural communities by providing efficient transportation for economic and social development.

Consultants Mr. Temitope Runsewe and Mr. Ayo Sotinrin from SAO Capital have recommended the use of Engineered Base Stabilizer (EBS) from Soil Solutions as a sustainable alternative to asphalt overlays. EBS offers a durable, erosion-resistant, and UV-protected surface, reducing maintenance needs and ensuring farmers can transport produce more efficiently.

A demonstration on Molege Road, linking to Owo Township Road, showcased EBS’s benefits over asphalt, including improved load-bearing capacity, dust elimination, and environmental sustainability. This project also promises job creation and skills transfer to local contractors, fostering a community-based maintenance program.
